I absolutely love the beautiful gardens of Schönbrunn Palace and the gorgeous Palm House, which is located on the side of the former dutch garden. I visited the Palm House on Saturday morning to avoid to many tourists strolling through the gardens: In my opinion, all the magic of Schönbrunn Palace is gone once the whole Palace and its gardens are too crowded.

After strolling a bit through Schönbrunn, I decided to have a look into the Palm House as I haven’t been there for ages :) So whilst discovering the building and all the different plants with their strange latin names I can’t remember, I learned a lot: The pavillon contains different climatic zones: a ‘cold’ house to the north (which is not cold at all :) ), a temperate zone in the central pavilion and a tropical climate in the south pavilion. The whole building is 113 meters long and it was built in 1881.  Oh and did you know that the Palm House here in Schönbrunn was the last of its type to be constructed in Europe ?

So come along on a tour through Schönbrunn‘s gardens and the lovely Palm House…
