TRIESTE, ITALY
Today, I am sending you some postcards from Trieste, as I visited that beautiful city on my way to Croatia. Since Trieste is just 30 km away from the Croatian border, I stopped there to have lunch and for an afternoon stroll through the city before continuing my journey to Croatia. And since I’ve never been to Trieste before, I was even more happy that I got the opportunity to spend some time in the lovely city centre of that city (especially because I am totally in love with Italy ♥)
Since I only had 2 hours in Trieste, I went straight to the Canale Grande, the main attraction in the „Borgo Teresiano“ district, as we parked our car at one of those car parks at the harbor, about 2 minutes away from the very center of the city. The district is called Borgo Teresiano as the Austrian Empress Maria Theresia let build the famous dock, since Trieste was part of the Austrian empire. I walked along the Canale Grande and explored all the beautiful side streets around Borgo Teresiano and ended up in a nice little restaurant close to the main square of Trieste, the huge “Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia“. After my late lunch, I walked along the harbor promenade to get back to the car and drove an hour down to the beautiful house in Croatia, where I stayed for a week.
The next post from Rovinj in Croatia will be online soon but you can check out my photos from Rovinj on my Instagram handle if you haven’t seen it yet ;)
